Travelling abroad in Europe with Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is an exchange programme of the European Union that promotes study visits and internships in Europe.

The Department of History is actively involved in European exchanges via ERASMUS+ and information events on the period of study abroad are held regularly. Please look out for notices at the department. Potential outgoers should also attend the regular introductory event ("Erstberatung Auslandsstudium") organised by the International Office (Domstraße 8) to find out about the details at an early stage.

The current partnerships at the Department can be found on the map under "Erasmus Partnerships".

Duration

Duration

You can receive Erasmus+ funding on several occasions from the 3rd subject semester onwards. You are entitled to 12 months of mobility (study and/or internship) per study phase (bachelor's/master's/PhD). In the Diplom and Staatsexamen (State Examination) programmes, the total is 24 months. Graduates can be funded for an internship up to one year after graduation (minus the months already funded up to that point).

Application

Application

In general, the application consists of a cover letter, a tabular CV, transcript of records, an overview of your studies and language certificates. The selection criteria are based on these documents.

For the exact details, please refer to the current notices on display at the Department or the calls for proposals under "Current information". If you have been nominated for an exchange place, your data will be forwarded to the International Office by 31 January. You will then receive all further information on the application process at the partner university from the International Office.

Subsequent nomination

Subsequent nomination

If not all of the available places have been allocated by 31 January, a subsequent nomination process for remaining places will take place in the subject areas in the summer semester of the respective application period. Information about the deadline and the call for proposals will be announced under "Current information" and on the pages of the International Office.

The guest lecturers are expected to enhance the European dimension of the host university, complement its teaching programme and impart their specialist knowledge to all those students who cannot or do not wish to study abroad.

Periods of teaching abroad within Europe last between 2 days and 2 months (excluding travel time); the teaching workload is at least 8 hours per stay or per week or part thereof.

With the Staff Mobility - Staff Training (STT) programme line, staff from the University of Greifswald can undertake continuing professional development at an Erasmus+ partner university or external institution.

The minimum requirement is a stay of at least two working days (with up to two additional days for travel). Typically, the programme funds stays of 1 week (up to a maximum of 2 months).

Selection period: ongoing

Selection criteria: Priority is given to first-time stays within the framework of Erasmus+ as well as stays that strengthen partnerships in the subject area and in line with the Internationalisation Strategy (focussing on the Baltic Sea region)

Applications and selections are handled by the International Office in consultation with the relevant departmental coordinator

Guest lectureships / continuous professional development

Erasmus+ provides funding for guest lectureships (STA) at European partner universities with which there is an existing Erasmus+ contract in the respective subject area.
